Unexplained headaches?
Neck pain is one of the most common complaints we see in our practice.
Those suffering with neck pain know first hand how debilitating neck pain can be.
Plus, as with any physical pain or limitation there is significant stress that accompanies restrictions in daily activities.
There are many types of conditions affecting the neck area including: muscle strains/sprains, disc injury, spinal dysfunction, whiplash, torticollis, pinched nerves, arthritis and facet injury.
Neck pain can present as a dull ache, muscle soreness, shooting pain, stiffness, locking and limited range of motion. Referred headaches, shoulder and arm pain are also common presentations.
What causes neck pain?
There are many possible causes of neck pain and no two people are the same. Which is why in order to give you the best experience and results it is necessary for our chiropractors to perform a thorough examination of your body.
Our first priority is to ensure that we know exactly what is going on with you and your body, and what is causing your problem.
During this process, if we deem that you need to be referred to another health care practitioner, we will be sure to find the right person to help you.
Common causes of neck pain:
Poor posture/spinal alignment
Whiplash/Trauma
Prolonged use of devices (text neck)
Poor sleeping position
Repetitive strain injury
Sports injury
Stress
Underlying disease or pathology
For the most part, many people with neck pain have a neuro-muscular cause. Meaning their neck pain is mechanical in nature, poor spinal alignment, muscular imbalances etc.
